2018 MSRA Back to the 50's Weekend, Street Rods at the Fairgounds

When you have perfect weather in a great setting with close to 12,000 hot rods and customs you would need to work pretty hard to not have a good time. So many cars to ogle and so many miles on my old Keds trying to see it all, this is THE midwest rodding event of the year.
Since this event is for 1964 and older vehicles only, we left the Mustang home and went over in Mama's daily conveyance. Parking was convenient and well organized. The discount tickets we bought earlier in the week at Napa got us through the gates with no delay. A lot of event organizers in the twin cities would do themselves a favor to pay attention to how the Minnesota Street Rod Association puts this thing together.

There is so much to do at BTTF that when you get tired of looking at all the bitchin' rides (Ya right!) you can go to one of the many different events within the event.

We enjoyed the vendor displays and seeing some high end builds from the pros. There were some great miniatures on display at the model car contest. When our feet were tired, we spent a couple hours relaxing at the classic car auction.
After a quick lunch (did I mention all the awesome and healthy food available at the fairgrounds?) we stopped to watch the beautiful ladies at the Miss Back to the 50's Pin Up Contest and enjoy some great rock-a-billy by the Star Chiefs. Neo 50's fashion and music made for one of the most enjoyable parts of the afternoon. it would be great to see this level of entertainment at some of the local shows and cruises.
We are looking forward the O'rely Street Machine Nationals in a few weeks where we can bring in the Mustang and enjoy some of the driving events but it will be hard to follow the Midwest's number one street rod event.
