North St Paul Cruise Night, Old Style Cruizin'

It was great to the low riders representing at the event. reminded me of California in the 70's.

Street Sweeper
This '60 Impala was sporting lots of vintage accessories
The North St Paul Cruise is held every Friday night during the summer. This event is the closest to the real cruising I remember as a teenager.
Meyers Manxter lookin' good

Event organizers block 7th street off for several blocks and allow only classic cars though with traffic only moving in one direction. This leaves enough room to park along the route or to actually cruise your classic. The mega shows like BTT50's or the Street Machine Nats allow cruising the fairgrounds but the roads are so full of civilians with poor survival instincts that it is maddening trying to wheel through the crowd without collecting a stroller on your bumper.
So this event offers real old school cruising plus every parking lot along the way is full of classic cars. There is plenty of food available along the route and live music in a couple different spots. The event officially starts at 6:00 PM but I arrived right at 6:00 and there wasn't a single spot available along the route; people love Friday nights in North St Paul. I did the loop and then parked in an attached lot so I could walk around and take in the scene. Cars are constantly cruising by making any spot a good spot for car watching. When it gets dark and the cars going by have their lights on it really is a beautiful sight to see. This is a greatly enjoyable event and I will be back again this season for more.
Any other local cruises we should be checking out, drop us a note or leave a comment and let us know.
