Back to Fifties 2016, or...No Mustang Burnouts

Minnesota's back to the Fifties. 2016 was another great year for the 10,000 Lakes State's biggest car show. There is so much to see that you can go into candy-coated overload.
There were 12,000 pre-1965 hot rods, rat rods, restos, trucks you name it. The weather was hot, clear and breezy and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. The vendors were out in force selling everything from full chassis to cheap T-shirts. We went to the swap meet Sunday but due to vendors setting up into the aisles and the huge crowds it was very hard to navigate especially for the stroller jockeys like myself and I'm sure we didn't see 25% of the goodies.

Actually was a prisoner transport vehicle in another life.
I spoke for a while with Marc Methot who has brought back CARtoons Magazine after a 25 years hiatus. This is exciting news, as I was addicted to this publication as a youngster and Marc has managed to round up some of the original artists. Can you say George Trosley? Looking through some of the issues Marc had on hand brought me right back to 13 years old. Although my wife will tell you it was a pretty short trip. Check CARtoons out at http://www.cartoonsmag.com/and send them your money.
Beautiful old girl
Another great year at BTTF's be sure and mark next year's date on your calendar (find your MN/WI car show calendar at http://reallifehotrod.blogspot.com/p/blog-page.html).
I was planning on doing the E-RAT-itcate Cancer tour today but won't be making it. See future entry "What the heck happened to the fuel,?" We plan to make it to the North Hudson show next weekend. Until then, keep burnin' them dinosaurs.
